The best decision I made after I retired 16 years ago, was to join the Bush Nomads. I needed new friends, companionship, exercise, fresh air and something to look forward to on a weekly basis. Bush Nomads provided all of those needs. I was welcomed into the group by a very friendly collection of interesting people. New people are always made very welcome. During the 16 years I have been a member of the group, many people have moved on, mainly because of age, and many new people have joined, yet the ethos of the group remains the same. I would say that this is mainly because of the outstanding leadership of Shirley. She is an experienced bush walker and is dedicated, inclusive, kind and supportive. In fact everyone supports each other through good times and bad. Many firm and long lasting friendships have been formed through the group.
Our walks are varied both in destination and level of difficulty, but everyone enjoys the day. I had no idea there were so many beautiful and interesting walking tracks within an easy drive from the Community House at North Ringwood. Our walk is always followed by coffee at various venues, which adds to the social side of things. We end the day with a good chat and a laugh with great company. How we missed our Bush Nomads outings during the COVID-19 restrictions and we are so happy they have returned!
